Where Lapas fits in a shop that already runs everything else

Lapas has no integrations. No ERP connector, no CAD add-in, no CAM plugin, not one. These pages explain the file handoff instead, and say where it is the wrong answer.

The short version

Everything here is the same shape: DXF in, nested DXF and a PDF report out, both on the free plan. Your CAD writes the part files, Lapas decides where they sit on the plate, your CAM turns that into machine output. Nothing is installed on either side.

Most fabrication ERPs do not nest either. They hand geometry out and take numbers back, through an integration or by someone moving files. Lapas sits in that gap as a plain file step. If your ERP already has a working nesting integration, that will beat this, and the individual pages say so.

CAD and CAM

The tools that make the part files and the ones that drive the machine. Lapas goes in between.

ERP and MES

Where the job lives. These pages are blunter, because several of these systems sell a nesting integration that beats moving files by hand.

Fulcrum

Good fit

Fulcrum does not nest. It packages job DXF files into a zip for external nesting and reads the result back from a nesting PDF, which is why Fulcrum say their workflow works with nearly all nesting software. DXF in, PDF out is exactly what Lapas does, on the free plan.

Global Shop Solutions

Only if you have no integration

Global Shop Solutions builds nesting integrations per customer, running bidirectionally with remnant drop parts and nesting labour time fed back into the job detail. Lapas cannot do that. If you have that integration, keep it.

JobBOSS²

Only if you have no integration

JobBOSS² groups jobs for nesting with its Job Grouping Utility and sells a nesting integration that syncs plate stock and pushes jobs automatically. Lapas is not one of the supported providers. Covers E2 Shop, which ECI merged into JobBOSS².

Plex

Only if you have no integration

Plex nesting integrations create nesting work orders, sync them to the ERP and track remnant inventory. Lapas creates no work orders and writes no remnants. If yours is integrated, keep it.

Epicor Kinetic

Only if you have no NESTLink

Epicor sells NESTLink, an API-based nesting integration for Kinetic that exists specifically to remove data re-entry. Lapas is not a NESTLink partner, so re-entry is exactly what this workflow keeps.

Paperless Parts

Usually you do not need us

Paperless Parts nests in-app, and positions it as removing the need for a separate nesting licence. It nests to price a job; Lapas nests to cut one. If those are the same job for you, they have it covered.

Not covered yet

ProShop, SecturaFAB, Lantek Integra, Mach3, FastCAM, AutoCAD. These are not written yet because we have not read enough of each vendor's own documentation to describe the handoff accurately, and a guessed page about someone's production system is worse than no page. If you run one of them, tell us what it expects and we will write it properly.

Don't take our word for it.

Upload one of your own DXF files and see the layout yourself. It's free and takes about two minutes.
